My memory has always been put to question. During the most traumatic moments of my life, I was heavily medicated. I listened to songs I found solace in repetitively to help attach experiences I knew were real. Entering adulthood, I have found myself reliving memories from songs of my past more than ever. With these I began visualizing my memories with feelings the songs bring. Bands that have frequently appeared in my work are Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, Deftones, Chevelle, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Sublime, Yes, Rush, The Smiths, Weezer, and Wavves. 

 

The content of my work is an ongoing investigation into my insecurities, vices, childhood trauma, sex, bipolar disorder, and suicide. With this I have a deeper understanding of myself and how much my experiences and relationships have influenced who I am. It has revealed the uncomfortable truths of my life in the hopes that someone with a story like mine will feel less alone. 

I juxtapose my complex subject matter with beautiful and opulent imagery. Born and raised in Las Vegas, I have grown accustomed to glitz and glam. I mesh fine fabrics with paint and print. I incorporate textures from textiles, metals, and beads. I use patterns to represent vicious cycles and animals with their respective folklore to replace the people or myself when necessary.
